DOUG KOENIG ADDS ANOTHER MASTERS CHAMPIONSHIP

Doug Koenig won the Masters International Championship at PASA Park in Barry, Illinois for an unprecedented thirteenth time.  This was Koenig’s second major title of the 2006 competitive shooting season. After a week of brutally hot weather in the region, temperatures became bearable by the start of the championship.

Koenig won the event by a considerable margin over second place finisher Bruce Piatt.  Koenig also won each of the three events of the match with a score of 39 in the Long Range Pistol Event; a score of 33 in the Precision Event; and a time of 21.33 in the Action Event.  Koenig’s remarkable string of victories at the Masters Championship is, in his words, the result of “hard work and knowledge of how to train properly for the match.”  Koenig also remarked that “…the Masters course of fire is a great test of a shooter’s all around pistol abilities.”

This was Koenig’s second victory of the season.  Koenig was a member of the winning pro team at the Sportsman’s Team Challenge in June and has now won his thirteenth Masters Championship.   No other shooter in the world has demonstrated the eclectic skills of Koenig.

Koenig has won national and world championships in pistol events, shotgun events, and rifle events.  A professional shooter, Koenig has dominated competitive pistol shooting for the last ten years.  He has won thirteen Masters International Championships, three World Speed Shooting Championships, an IPSC World Championship, a two World Action Pistol Championships (holds World Record Score), ten Sportsman’s Team Challenge Championships, a World All-Around Championship, and nine National Action Pistol Championships (Bianchi Cup).
